Ceramic Heart, "Black Eyed Susan" by Laurie Pollpeter
This ceramic heart, made by Laurie Pollpeter, is a gorgeous blend of old and new -- inspired by the traditional needle crafts made by women in the 19th and early 20th century. Using a combination of wheel throwing, coil, and slab techniques she transforms vintage designs into contemporary stoneware. Laurie uses vintage lace that is pressed into the wet clay, leaving the pattern which is then painted. When the lace cannot be used any longer, the pattern is retired.
Approximately 5.5" tall by 6.5" wide
