Join us for an evening of learning and conversation.
Carolyn Karcher has edited a second edition of her groundbreaking book Reclaiming Judaism from Zionism: A Moral Imperative After the Gaza Genocide. Today Jews face a choice between the ethical imperatives at the heart of Judaism - loving the stranger, pursuing justice, and repairing the world; and devotion to the apartheid nation-state of Israel. The choice is between the Jewish religion and the nationalist ideology of Zionism, which is attempting to usurp the religion. The book is a powerful collection of personal narratives, forty-seven Jews of diverse backgrounds tell a wide range of stories about the roads they have traveled from a Zionist world view to activism in solidarity with Palestinians and Israelis striving to build an inclusive society founded on justice, equality, and peaceful coexistence.
Carolyn will be in conversation with Lily Greenberg Call, one of the new contributors to this second edition who became anti-Zionist after October 2023. Lily is a former special assistant to the chief of staff at the Department of the Interior. She worked on President Biden’s 2020 campaign and served in the administration until May 15, 2024, when she became the first Jewish political appointee to resign in protest of US policy in Gaza.
Everyone is welcome at no cost. Refreshments will be served. Books will be available for purchase at $25
